2015 AX-1 Sangiovese

95% Sangiovese (Altesino clone), 2% Canaiolo Nero, 2% Linsteadt Barbera, 1% Petite Sirah – our AX-1 project aims to make the absolute best Sangiovese on this side of the Atlantic.  This is Amador taking aim at Tuscany.  Aged 3 ¾ years in French oak puncheons and then for almost another 3 years in bottle, the 2015 AX-1 is a marathon runner – energetic, light on its feet, and incredibly balanced.  Abundant notes of pomegranate, blackberry, tart cherry, and sweet tobacco mingle with subtle spice.  Crafted for the long-haul for a plate of pappardelle ragu.  Or steak and butter mushrooms.
